Riding in Memory of a Loving Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend
This October 11th and 12th, our family will be biking 150 miles through Pennsylvania in memory of our dear mother and wife Mona.
Mona was diagnosed with Stage 4 mucosal melanoma in 2011. Her strength and fearlessness throughout her illness were truly incredible, and her medical care at the University of Pennsylvania vastly improved the quality of her life. Her doctors gave her hope, and Mona had full confidence that every treatment they offered would give her the chance at another day with her loving family.
Mona loved riding her bike, biking 10-15 miles every summer morning when down the beach, or in Philadelphia on the local trails. She biked throughout her illness, even if she had fatigue from a treatment the prior week. We bike in memory and honor of Mona and all cancer patients who require the mindset of a warrior to combat the disease day after day. Biking 150 miles is incredibly easy in comparison, and we hope to make a difference with each dollar raised.
All funds raised will go towards the Melanoma Research and Patient Fund at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Mona truly believed in the research her doctors were performing, and would want them to receive additional funds in her memory so that they could continue making breakthroughs day by day. Specifically, this program is led by her main oncologist Dr. Lynn Schuchter, who Mona considered to be brilliant, personable, and most importantly, a friend. We hope that the funds you donate to Dr. Schuchter's program will create medical breakthroughs that will give the opportunity for prolonged patient survival and eventually a cure. What is one day of life worth? Please give with your heart.
